Here is another video excerpt from Your Next Dive – My Adventures in Scuba Diving
From Your Next Dive –
“On our charter to Second Cathedral, we had yet another unique encounter. As we came out of the formation and made our way to the top of the reef, a Hawaiian monk seal floating on the surface greeted us. You cannot imagine how excited I was to be diving with this animal. The Hawaiian monk seal is a critically endangered species. In the past, I have encountered the monk seals on shore. They come up on the beach and rest for a while. It is a big event when one visits. They put up barriers around the seal and the crowd gathers around snapping pictures. To encounter the Hawaiian monk seal on a dive was phenomenal. He floated above us for a while before diving and heading down to wherever monk seals go. The smiles on all the divers back onboard the boat reminded me just how lucky we were to be swimming with this Hawaiian monk seal.”
